Job Description:
This consisted of Various elements of civils/accommodation works undertaken by MCB Civils.
MCB Civils were responsible for the following elements on the A6 package:
-Demolitions & Site Clearance
- Waterways in Channel protection works and removals
- Drainage and services works, Footpaths, pavements & kerbing
- Structures: Kerbing, Concrete Finishes, Access steps, Paving and Edge protection
- Concrete Access tracks Drainage, formation, Grading and Concrete Paving
- Side Roads formation, Grading, Kerbing, Paving and Drainage installations
-Concrete V-channel Infills
-Landowner Accomodation Works to new Access, Paving & Finishes
MCB Civils role on this project was to deliver multiple elements of Demoiltion & civil works along the new A6 road. Elements consisted of the demolition of various redundant properties, structures and Bridges. Both the Old Burntollet Bridge Structures were removed in phased demolition sequences to align with new Structures builds. In-channel protective measures applied to permit Controlled demolitions of the masonry and post-tensioned concrete structures. MCB Asbestos Removals from demolitions and site clearances furthered to removals of several hundred metres of 200-250mm Asbestos Cement Water Mains over excavation, unseating pipework, removals, clearance and backfill with licensed transport and disposal to areas infringing on Earthworks, re-routing and new connections.
Construction of a new park and ride facilities at Drumahoe and Claudy works consisted of drainage installations, manholes, gullies, ducts and services to be installed, finishes marrying with Side Road and Roundabout kerbing and paving installations, Street lighting bases & ducting and metalwork to finished blacktop levels. Tactile paving was required to be laid on various crossings to footpaths along the permanent works. Various Concrete Access tracks were constructed by MCB Civils within the project, involving drainage, grading, trimming and prepping sub base to achieve concrete paving field access points with verge re-dressing on completion. Landowner Accommodation works involved variant elements of finishes to replicate landowner agreed access changes to entrance’s facilitating new road infrastructure. MCB finishing crews carried out the works to Bridge structures with kerbing, drainage, verge concrete, access steps and embankment paving with permanent edge protection to the 22nr new Structures on the new carriageway. MCB drainage crew’s installation and finishing works to Side Roads with access track drainage and V-channel drainage infills placement with outlet gratings cast and outfall discharges to East and Westbound directions over the course of the new road infrastructure.
